Better Moves (“we”, “us”) provides household and commercial moving services in New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
When you request a quote through this website we ask for your name, phone number, the address you are moving from, the address you are moving to, and your preferred moving date. You may also choose to give us your email address if you would like the quote in writing. Providing an email address is optional.
If you call us, we collect the information you give us during that call so we can prepare your quote.
Our website also records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and how you reached our site. Where you arrived from a Google Ads advertisement, a click identifier is stored in your browser so we can tell which advertisement led to your enquiry.
Why we collect it
We use this information to prepare and send you a quote, to contact you about your move, to carry out the move itself, and to keep our own records. We use the technical and advertising information to understand which of our advertisements work, so we do not waste money showing them to people who are not looking for a mover.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing messages to people who have only asked us for a quote.
Who we share it with
We share information with the people who need it to do their job: our own moving crews, and service providers that run parts of our business on our behalf. These include our website host, our email provider, and Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads), which help us measure how our website and advertising perform. Google may process this information outside New Zealand.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it.
Cookies and measurement
We use cookies and similar technology through Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads to measure website use and advertising performance. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and job records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet our legal and tax obligations, and then we delete them.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us and we will respond as quickly as we can.
